The Automated Plate Assessment System (APAS) uses imaging technology and artificial intelligence to scan agar plates, detect bacterial growth, and eliminate no growth and user-defined negative cultures from your workflow. It has been estimated that as much as 70% of urine cultures and close to 95% of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) cultures are negative.

APAS Independence is easy to use and compatible with your current streaking and incubation process. The unit measures 79 x 31.5 in. and sits on the floor to save bench space. The image analysis software — APAS Analysis Modules — are currently available for urine and MRSA cultures and can be used with cultures plated on Thermo Scientific™ SBA and MacConkey agars, Thermo Scientific™ Spectra™ chromogenic MRSA agar, BD SBA and MacConkey agars, and BD BBL CHROMagar™ MRSA II agar.
